The main entrance is just up the stairs from our rear parking lot. An accessible parking & ramp is available at the front of the building.
The Shop is a vision brought to life by owner and educator Jessica Shattuck. When she and her husband Chris first walked through the dilapidated home on route 7 that is now The Shop’s premier location, she knew it was the space where she would realize her lifelong dream of opening a salon.
The pair presented their plan for the property to the town of Colonie, where they were met with all the support and guidance they needed to transition the home into a business space. Neighbors were also very supportive, as they were happy to see the house get the attention it deserved and so desperately needed.
The two spent the entire summer of 2018 pouring everything they had into making the space welcoming, functional, comfortable, and accessible for all guests. The interior and decor are mid-century modern-inspired, paying homage to the year the home was built.
The Shattuck’s worked tirelessly—putting in blood, sweat, and happy tears—to turn the ugliest house on route 7 into a space destined to create and foster beauty... inside and out!
In 2023 the couple embarked on an addition to quadruple the space and rebrand the building as The Suites on 7 —Making “The Shop” a part of a bigger community of independent beauty & wellness professionals. The Suites on 7 officially opened in October of 2024 as 8 private suites (The Shop & Headspace occupying suite 1 & 3) welcoming in more service options and the ability for independent beauty and wellness professionals to operate together under one roof.
In 2025 the community space in the lower level opened where they host a variety of continuing education, art & wellness classes, and networking events.
