About the Owner
“At The Shop, we strive to provide a relaxing environment where everyone belongs, and feels inspired to live their best life.”
Jessica Shattuck began her career as a hair stylist in her home state of New Hampshire in 2007. When her husband Chris’ position was transferred to Albany, NY in 2010, the pair set down new roots in Latham, NY.
Jessica has always believed that honest and realistic communication is the key to success when looking to achieve your hair goals.
In addition to a highly transparent approach, Jessica has supported her passion for raising standards across the beauty industry through seeking access to, and promoting education, throughout her career. She has been educating in salons all around NY state for the past eight years, and enjoys volunteering her time at local beauty schools hoping to inspire the next generation of stylists.
After her first year in business and welcoming her son into the world she knew it was time to grow the team. Jessica always dreamed of having a salon that did it differently, stylists are compensated fairly for their time and celebrated for their talents. As opposed to most salons that each stylist is independent, we all work together at The Shop towards our personal goals and to make sure our clients feel as welcomed and comfortable as possible. Continuing education is part of the salon culture along with work/life balance. That dream has become a reality with the support of all the amazing clientele of The Shop.

We have a stylist for everyone at The Shop, and all are welcome! Since we salon differently, we encourage you to give everyone a try and find the stylist within our team that best suits your schedule and budget.
If you have long hair and love a lived-in balayage look, Amber is your girl.
If you like a more funky vibe Valerie loves doing textured, short & shaggy haircuts and fashion color & working with curls.
If you are in need of regular root touches, great blowouts, haircuts and clipper cuts… Stephanie is the Stylist for you!
Beth is our nail technician and she has an attention to detail that keeps her client’s coming back, she loves doing nail art as well!
Jessica is no longer taking new color clients but she is available for cutting, hair loss consultations, hand tied extensions and wig fittings!

The Shop uses Eufora products, as well as offering a selection of their retail line to our clients. Today, all Eufora products meet the most rigorous standards in formulation, utilizing Certified Organic Aloe along with nearly 75 different natural plant extracts and essential oils, all of which are classified as renewable resources and considered biodegradable.
The Shop is a certified sustainable salon through Green Circle Salons. The award-winning platform built by the industry, for the industry, allows salons to repurpose and recover up to 95% of the resources that were once considered waste; materials such as hair, leftover hair color, foils, color tubes, aerosol cans, paper and plastics.
